Roberts, Muncy lose it after Ruf walk ties game in ninth inning

Watching the Giants comeback and beat the Dodgers is a sweet feeling for Giants fans. Watching the Dodgers lose their minds in the process is possibly even sweeter.

That’s what happened after a controversial walk to Darin Ruf in the ninth inning, one that tied the game at three runs apiece. With the bases loaded and the count at 3-2, Ruf offered up a check swing at a Kenley Jansen pitch outside the zone. Well, it was called a check swing by the first-base umpire. Upon review, it sure looked like Ruf went around.

Yet the call was made, and the run came home. This led immediately to an incensed Dave Roberts running out of the dugout, the Dodgers manager’s tirade getting him tossed for the second night in a row.

Then there was Giants’public enemy No. 1, Max Muncy, who apparently checked the replay in the clubhouse, and went on a profanity-laced tirade at the umpire upon his return.

For someone who has caused so much anguish to Giants fans this season, we’re sure they don’t mind seeing the shoe on the other foot for a change.
