Jay Jackson’s rough performance on Monday night didn’t hold a candle to the brutal response he received from some fans.
The 33-year-old reliever, who had his third rough appearance in a row on Monday after being literally unhittable in his first six with the Giants, was treated to racist vitriol on Instagram after the game. Jackson posted screenshots of the messages to social media. Warning: The messages contain highly offensive racist language.
Haha it’s funny to see the amount of stuff people say… I want to see them do what I do… but you right I had a bad game… no one is more pissed for making the team work harder than me… but we won: the boys picked me up. We are in first **fans… enjoy the game, be happy we won pic.twitter.com/YrHodFVcmU

The messages came after Jackson gave up three runs in the seventh inning, in a game the Giants would go onto win. Many Giants fans reached out to support Jackson and condemn the messages. Jackson posted again a few hours later to thank the true Giants fans for their support.
Also a HUGE HUGE HUGE THANK YOU TO THE @SFGiants FANS!! You guys have sent an outpouring of love and support after inappropriate messages last night. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. ???? pic.twitter.com/xn5jAy20Br

Jackson’s tenure with the Giants is his third shot at a major-league career. He had brief stints with the Brewers and Padres in 2019 and 2015, respectively, while spending the most of his 14-year career in the minor leagues.
