If you weren’t convinced that NFL players are some of the toughest individuals on the planet, we present the latest report regarding 49ers cornerback Josh Norman.

Norman was knocked out of the first half of Monday’s game with a chest injury, one that was serious enough to send him to the hospital as a precautionary measure. The 49ers became concerned when Norman began spitting up blood, a sign of internal bleeding, due to the fact that he had sustained two bruised lungs.

So how long will Norman be out? Apparently, he could be good to go for next week.

A return that quick would seem insane, but would be welcome for a 49ers team that is severely depleted at corner. After losing Norman, K’Waun Williams and Dontae Johnson at one point during Sunday’s loss, San Francisco didn’t even have enough cornerbacks to play a nickel defense.

Norman looked good before getting knocked out of the game, and would be assumed to start alongside Emmanuel Moseley next week if healthy.
