The award nominations just keep rolling in for the Giants.

Thursday’s announcement is perhaps the least surprising. Brandon Crawford is one of three nominees for a National League Gold Glove award at shortstop. More surprising, however, is Mike Yastrzemski nomination for his work in Oracle Park’s extremely difficult to navigate right field.

The honor would be the first for Yaz, who also played 34 games in center. For Crawford it would be his fourth honor, but first since 2017, when he won the award for the third consecutive season. Crawford was named as the league’s Defensive Player of the Year twice by Wilson (2012, 2016), and could be up for that honor again based on his wizardry in 2021.

Crawford is also nominated for a Silver Slugger at his position. Combined with the Gold Glove nomination, you’d think there’s a high likelihood Crawford is on the short list of candidates for the NL MVP award.
