There were four 49ers who suffered injuries in Sunday’s 34-26 win over the Vikings, and while that list included Fred Warner (hamstring), Dre Greenlaw (groin) and Trey Sermon (ankle), none was more consequential than Deebo Samuel.

Samuel left the game in the second half with a groin injury he suffered on his sixth and final run play of the day. He said after that he wasn’t too concerned about the injury and head coach Kyle Shanahan said he felt like Samuel avoided a serious injury, but would wait to confirm, pending MRIs.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Monday that Samuel is expected to miss time, but that the injury isn’t expected to be serious. This comes before the 49ers have results on Samuel’s MRI.

Samuel is unquestionably the 49ers’ MVP, and should be considered a legitimate candidate for that award. He crossed the 1,000-yard receiving threshold on Sunday, and over the last three games, has become an elite running back, with 181 yards (9.53 yards per attempts) and 4 TDs on 19 carries. He also has 7 receptions for 124 receiving yards and a touchdown over those three games.
