Trenton Cannon leaves in ambulance after sustaining scary head injury

Sunday’s 49ers game in Seattle got off to a very scary start.

An ambulance was called onto the field four seconds into the game, after San Francisco special teamer Trenton Cannon’s head struck the knee of Talanoa Hufanga on the opening kickoff. Cannon appeared to lay motionless on the ground for more than five minutes as both teams gathered on the field to take a knee.

Eventually Cannon was loaded into the ambulance on a stretcher. A handful of reporters say they saw Cannon’s arm move before he left the field.

Five minutes into the first quarter, the 49ers announced that Cannon had sustained a concussion.

A few hours later, the 49ers announced that Cannon is in stable condition and will stay in the hospital overnight for further observation.
