Steve Kerr has been present for the majority of Stephen Curry’s NBA record 2,977 made 3-pointers. He mentioned the two that stand out most when he joined Tolbert, Krueger & Brooks on Thursday.

“Oklahoma City to win the game, from just beyond half-court and the other one would be when he dribbled through five Clippers and rose up and shot it,” Kerr said.

Kerr says the 3-pointer vs. the Clippers actually changed the way he looked at Curry, and was a moment that changed the NBA forever.

“I put my hands on my head because I could hear Coach (Lute) Olson’s voice in my head, ‘God dammit Steph Curry, what kind of shot is that.’ That was the moment I realized that I need to redefine what is a good shot. Forget everything I ever learned from Phil Jackson, Greg Popovich, Lenny Wilkens, all these hall of fame coaches I played for, I needed to erase their voices from my head, and reimagine what a good shot is for Steph Curry.

“The fact that he’s a showman, he loves to put a show on for the crowd, I think that contributed to the way he changed the game. That shot against the Clippers, talk about a perfect example…I just think he thought I can do this, and I want to show the world I can do this, and so he did it and it blew everyones mind.

“It made everybody reimagine how the game could be played.”
