We are coming to the end of the 2021 regular season and yes, we are already talking about next year’s schedule. While the schedule hasn’t been set, the opponents for next season have been determined via the team’s placing in the NFC West.

San Francisco (9-7) is guaranteed to finish third in the division, and with six division games guaranteed, plus another eight guaranteed games (as a result of the yearly intra-division rotation), the last three are determined by division placing.

Per Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle, the 49ers will meet with the third-place teams in the NFC East, North and AFC East in the Washington Football Team (new name to be announced next month), Chicago Bears and Miami Dolphins.

Here’s what the home-away breakdown looks like:

Home

  • Washington (6-10)
  • Seattle Seahawks (6-10)
  • Miami Dolphins (8-8)
  • New Orleans Saints (8-8)
  • Los Angeles Chargers (9-7)
  • Kansas City Chiefs (11-5)
  • Arizona Cardinals (11-5)
  • Los Angeles Rams (12-4)
  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers (12-4)

Away

  • Carolina Panthers (5-11)
  • Chicago Bears (6-10)
  • Seattle Seahawks (6-10)
  • Atlanta Falcons (7-9)
  • Denver Broncos (7-9)
  • Las Vegas Raiders (9-7)
  • Arizona Cardinals (11-5)
  • Los Angeles Rams (12-4)

Suffice it to say, it’s a fairly grueling schedule, especially at home. With one week remaining, those home opponents have a combined 83-61 record (57.6 win percentage), versus a combined 63-65 record (49.2 win percentage) for the road opponent. In total, it’s a 146-126 record, and 53.7 win percentage.
