Stephen Curry, Draymond Green discuss if they’d give up two titles to have won championship in 73-win season

Draymond Green and Stephen Curry were having fun on the latest episode of “The Draymond Green Show”.

At one point during their conversation, Green asked Curry a wild but very interesting hypothetical. Here’s the transcript below.

Draymond Green : If you could trade the 2017 and ’18 championship to complete the 73-win championship, would you trade those two championships?

Stephen Curry: So we’d have two chips and a damn near perfect season?

Green: Or three trips and a blunder.

Curry: You see I didn’t want to say it! I blacked out as soon as I had to even acknowledge it. I don’t even know how to answer that question. I would say no. I think for the rest of our life I’ll still be able to just laugh at ’16, which is fine. It’s always going to be that just awkward acknowledgement of an amazing regular season and the Finals run. I’d say no, but I’m glad I don’t take myself too seriously ’cause goddamn that was hard.

Green: If you don’t have a Steph Curry in your life, get you a Steph Curry, because if he say ‘yes’ this interview is over, my heart was broken. Get you a Steph Curry, cause he mean ‘yes.’ Get you a Steph. Honestly, that essentially put you in a place of undoubtedly the best team ever, if we were to complete it.

Curry: Cool to be in the conversation.

Green: Now, to be quite frank with you, I still think we had the best team ever although we didn’t finish it and win a championship, I still think that was the best team ever, until 2017.

Curry: I was about to say where are we going with that ’cause that team was nice.

Green: Until 2017, and then I think that team took over as the greatest team ever. So I think we still accomplished it, best team ever, but people want to take numbers and say ‘Oh well the Bulls had 72 wins.’ We were the best team ever, I don’t care what no one says. I can’t see anyone beating that 2017 team. Not even ’15-’16. I can’t see anyone beating that 2017 team.

Curry: As they say in the medical field, I concur.

Green: Hands down, the best team ever.

Both Green and Curry were laughing throughout this conversation at the elephant in the room, that being Green’s suspension in Game 5 of the 2016 Finals that threw a wrench in the series. The Warriors led 3-1 at the time, and dropped three consecutive games to LeBron James and the Cavaliers, the only team in NBA Finals history to do so.

Golden State did this after coming back from a 3-1 deficit in their previous series vs. the Oklahoma City Thunder.
