Evan Longoria asks for ball after getting hit off Albert Pujols

At 42-years old, Albert Pujols reached another milestone in his Hall-of-Fame career on Sunday.

Pujols made his pitching debut in the ninth inning of a blowout win over the Giants, one in which he gave up home runs to Luis Gonzalez and Joey Bart, but smiled throughout.

The best moment came when Evan Longoria got the first hit off Pujols on a 58 mph curveball for a single. Longoria immediately asked Pujols for the ball. Pujols obliged and threw it into the Giants’ dugout for safe keeping. The moment got a hearty laugh out of Gabe Kapler.

Sunday’s 15-6 loss was a rough on for San Francisco, but at least Pujols provided some levity.
