Warriors-Mavericks Game 4 suffers indoor rain delay

Yeah, this is just your super standard rain delay in an indoor arena. Just before the start of the second half of Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals, with the Warriors trailing 62-47, it began to, er, rain.

There’s a certain aesthetic quality to a rain delay, with the usual rain reporting lead-up, followed by a tarp crew and then the “when will it start again” shenanigans.

During an indoor rain delay, you don’t get that same sort of rhythm. Instead, just about everyone is confused by what, in this case, turned out to be a not-insignificant leak in the roof of the American Airlines Center.

It’s not quite the Super Bowl 47 power outage situation in New Orleans, but it does bring back those memories.

You saw the likes of Luka Doncic, Stephen Curry, and funniest of all, Mavericks owner Mark Cuban staring up at the punctured ceiling.

It was some incredible camera and commentary work as the shots panned from the mass of soaked towels next to the Warriors bench with Kevin Harlan narrating the situation.

Per TNT’s Allie LaForce, this is not the first time this has happened in Dallas, let alone this season. LaForce reported that the Mavericks had to deal with a leak earlier this season against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Is this part of a larger plot? Only time will tell.
