Draymond Green goes off on reporter after question about giving away “X’s and O’s” on podcast

Wednesday night was not a banner performance for Draymond Green.

He played terribly, saying himself that he played “like shit” and was “soft.”

Green was booted from the game after six personal fouls, finishing with 2 points, 3 assists, 4 rebounds, a block and a couple of turnovers.

After the game, a reporter, Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report, brought up his podcast and asked Green whether he thought about giving his opinion and breaking down games, and whether that could be construed as a competitive advantage.

“Are you conscious at all of what you’re saying about the X’s and O’s of the game plans, the adjustments, could be making their way back to Boston staffers and influencing their decision-making at all?” asked Fischer.

Green challenged him.

“No. I don’t see much difference on the Podcast than I say to you right here, so nah,” Green said. “What’s the X’s and O’s that I said on the Podcast?”

Fischer pointed to how Green talked about covering Derrick White, Marcus Smart and Al Horford differently between the first two games of the series.

Green laughed off the question and called out Fischer for what he believed was trying “reaching.”

“That’s just contesting shots. If that’s X’s and O’s, you’re reaching for something,” Green said. It’s all good, though, keep going. You’re reaching heavy… You went for it. Appreciate the podcast promo you just gave me, though. The Draymond Green Show. Next time just mention it that way.”

Green’s next podcast episode should be interesting.
