The Warriors decided to keep their pick after all.

With the No. 28th selection in Thursday’s NBA Draft, the Golden State Warriors selected Patrick Baldwin Jr., a 6-foot-9 wing out of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Baldwin, 19, continues a recent trend of the Warriors drafting extremely long and athletic players like James Wiseman, Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody.

Baldwin Jr., a Wisconsin native, was considered a top high school recruit before a forgettable freshman season in college where only played in 11 games due to a nagging ankle injury.

Golden State is betting on upside here. Baldwin Jr. is known to be a good shooter but shot just 26.6% his freshman season. Baldwin Jr. projects as an oversized small forward at the NBA level and his ball handling ability mean he could be an effective slasher at the next level.

The Warriors under Bob Myers have a pretty good hit rate late in the first round with both Kevon Looney and Jordan Poole playing key roles in Golden State’s latest championship run.
