The All-Star Game’s biggest snub is now getting an invite.

For the second straight season Giants’ starting pitcher Carlos Rodon has been named an All-Star, getting the nod as a replacement for Brewers closer John Hader, who is on the bereavement list. Rodon joins Joc Pederson as San Francisco’s two All-Stars.

Rodon, 29, was named to his first All-Star Game as a member of the White Sox last season. The left-hander’s dominance has continued in his first season with San Francisco. In addition to leading all Major League pitchers in wins above replacement according to Fangraphs, Rodon is posting a league-best FIP (2.14) and home runs per nine innings (0.4). In 17 starts Rodon has a 2.70 ERA and 1.06 WHIP while striking out 124 in 100 innings.

Rodon was SF’s big signing of last offseason, his two-year, $44 million deal already looking like an excellent investment.

Giants starter Logan Webb has also been very good this season, and it remains to be seen if he’ll also get the nod should some other National League pitchers decide not to participate in next week’s Midsummer Classic.
