There are rarely slow days for Giants roster moves. On Monday, the team made a move for at least one recently DFA’d player and seem likely to make another.

Per the team, former Cleveland Guardians LHP Alex Young was acquired by the Giants in exchange for cash considerations and has been optioned to Triple-A Sacramento.

In addition, LHP Aaron Fletcher cleared waivers and has been outrighted to Triple-A Sacramento.

Young, a 28-year-old selected in the 32nd round by the Texas Rangers in 2012, has 182 innings of experience, with a career 4.90 ERA.

He throws a low-90s sinker, mid-80s changeup, lower-mid-80s slider and a low-80s curve.

In addition to the move for Young, the team may be signing former Mariners catcher Andrew Knapp, according to The San Francisco Chronicle’s John Shea.

Knapp, a switch-hitter, has had brutal averages over the last couple of years, batting .152 in 2021 and a combined .114 in 39 appearances this season. He has a career .209 average, but as mentioned by Shea, played under Gabe Kapler with the Philadelphia Phillies.
