Stephen Curry trolls Grant Williams before, during ESPYS

Grant Williams chose the wrong day to say something silly on a podcast.

The Celtics forward made headlines on Wednesday morning, when a clip went around from a recent podcast appearance showing Williams saying he believes Boston was clearly better than Golden State despite losing the title.

“When I’ve reflected and looked back on those games,” Williams said on The Long Shot podcast. “I would say confidently, confidently to this day that they weren’t the better team. I would say that confidently.

“I would say they they were the most disciplined team. I would say that without a doubt. I would say their discipline, their history of being in the Finals, championship pedigree was real.”

Regardless of what you think about Williams’ comment, it lead to a large uproar on social media, with many making fun of Williams for not understanding what the word “better” means. Curry joined in on the trolling before the ESPYS, first posting a picture to his Instagram of him getting a haircut, with the caption “A very disciplined cut.”

Curry continued to have fun with Williams after he took the stage, making a joke that he’d let the Celtics forward wear his ring after the show as Williams looked on from the audience.

“Grant Williams, I see you in the building. It’s great to see you again my man. I know you like this [suit] color, I’ll let you borrow it after I’m done. I might even let you wear the ring. We’ll see, we’ll see.”

They call him the Petty King for a reason.
