The 49ers might be looking to add some depth at quarterback.

According to Aaron Wilson, former Jets quarterback James Morgan worked out for the 49ers on Friday, a day after he’d worked out for the Seattle Seahawks. He had reportedly worked out with the Packers a week ago.

Also working out for the team is veteran slot receiver Willie Snead. San Francisco cut Taysir Mack on Friday and currently has receiver Marcus Johnson in concussion protocol after taking a nasty hit from Fred Warner, which led to a fight involving Brandon Aiyuk on Tuesday.

Kyle Shanahan said Friday morning that he wasn’t aware of any quarterback workout, but he’s been known to be unaware of workouts and injuries, even if he is an offensive coach.

Morgan was drafted by the Jets out of Florida International University in the fourth round of the 2020 draft. He’s not taken an NFL snap but came into the league with a powerful arm.

Snead, meanwhile, has spent six of his seven split equally between the New Orleans Saints and Baltimore Ravens. He caught for 1,879 yards and 7 TDs in his first two years with New Orleans and was a longtime useful player for Baltimore before an unproductive season last year (4 catches, 38 yards) with the Carolina Panthers and Las Vegas Raiders.
