Steele Walker, a former 2018 second round pick, is now a San Francisco Giant.

The Giants claimed Walker off waivers from the Texas Rangers, who had designated him for assignment. Walker made his MLB debut this season, appearing in five games and going 1-for-14.

Walker was originally drafted by the White Sox in the 2018 draft. He played three seasons at Oklahoma, where as a senior he hit .352 with 53 RBI in 54 games.

The Giants optioned Walker to Sacramento. While he projects as an average defender in the outfield, he lacks power and is likely viewed as extra positional depth and an emergency left-handed platoon option.
