SAN FRANCISCO, CA – The San Francisco Giants will honor four-time All-Star and member of the 2012 and 2014 World Series championship teams Hunter Pence on the team’s Wall of Fame on Saturday, Sept. 17 at Oracle Park. Pence will join 54 other Giants legends who have received the Wall of Fame honor. For the first time, the plaque unveiling ceremony will be held on-field prior to the Giants v. Los Angeles Dodgers game.

The Giants Wall of Fame serves as a living tribute to the organization’s greatest players.  The bronze plaques that line the brick wall of Oracle Park along King Street honor those who have played a minimum of nine seasons for the San Francisco Giants, or five seasons with at least one All-Star selection as a Giant or have won three World Series Championships with the Giants.  In 2019, the Wall was expanded to include other individuals, in addition to players, who have made a remarkable impact on the franchise.

“The Giants Wall of Fame is a place where we permanently honor both players and individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to the organization and Hunter is definitely one of those players.  His pivotal role in our two World Series Championships will forever be remembered by our fans and his connection to this great city is a special one,” said Larry Baer, Giants President and CEO.

During his eight year career with the Giants, Pence hit .265 with 391 runs scored, 135 doubles, 26 triples, 95 home runs and 412 RBI in 789 games. The right-fielder’s best statistical season in San Francisco was in 2013 when he played all 162 games and hit .283 with a career-high 27 home runs. In the 2014 Postseason, Pence hit safely in 15 of his 17 games and helped propel the Giants in the World Series by batting.444 (12-for-27) with seven runs scored and five RBI.

Remembered for his motivational speeches and dynamic personality, Pence is one of the most popular players in San Francisco Giants history. In 2013, Pence won the Willie McCovey Award, an annual honor bestowed upon the most inspirational player on the team, as voted upon by Giants players, coaches, training staff and the fans. The award was established in 1980, in honor of former legend and Hall of Famer Willie McCovey. In 2014, Pence was named as the Giants’ recipient of the Heart and Hustle Award, given annually to honor players who demonstrate passion for the game and best embody baseball’s values, spirit and tradition.

“I’m truly humbled by this honor,” said Hunter Pence. “To be included among people who I consider legends of the organization is surreal and I’m overwhelmed with gratitude to even be considered. The Giants organization and the San Francisco community are my family. This honor wouldn’t be possible if not for the love, support and dedication I’ve shared with them. I can’t thank the club, my teammates and the fans enough for the unforgettable memories.”

To celebrate Pence, the Giants will offer specially priced tickets to all remaining home games, including the Wall of Fame induction. All prices feature the number 8, with many games available for only $8.  This offer ends on Wed., Aug. 10 at 8 p.m.

Also announced, the first 20,000 fans to enter the ballpark on Sat., Sept. 17 will receive a pair of Giants foam fingers presented by T-Mobile to recreate Pence’s inspirational “Yes! Yes! Yes!” speech during the 2014 season.

The ceremony start time will be announced closer to the event date.
