It only took Trey Lance two series to turn some heads.
The 49ers’ new starting quarterback threw a 76-yard bomb to rookie wide receiver Danny Grey late in the first quarter of San Francisco’s preseason opener vs. the Packers, a perfect dime that caught the speedster in stride.
Grey was selected in the third-round of this year’s draft out of SMU, and is fighting for a spot with Ray-Ray McCloud as San Francisco’s primary deep threat.
A series later, Nate Sudfeld took over and threw a touchdown pass of his own on his first pass attempt, a 39-yard TD to McCloud.
Lance went 4-for-5 for 95 yards and a TD pass while also rushing once for seven yards.
