Jakob Junis leaves game after getting hit with 108 mph comebacker

Jakob Junis was helping the Giants get back on track in Colorado on Sunday, but his day ended with some concern.

The starting pitcher left the game in the seventh inning after taking a 108 mph comebacker off his left hand. Junis looked to be in some pain.

Junis was having a strong game up to that point, allowing three runs and five hits at live Coors Field through six and two-thirds innings.

After Junis’ exit the Giants collapsed, with the bullpen giving up three runs to tie the game and send it into extras.

Junis was placed on the 15-day injured list earlier this year with a hamstring injury.

After the game Gabe Kapler said initial scans on Junis’ left hand came back negative. Junis will undergo a CT scan on Monday.
