SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The San Francisco Giants released their 2023 regular season schedule today, which will feature the Giants opening the season with an Interleague match-up in New York against the Yankees for three games beginning on Thursday, March 30. Opening Day will be followed by an off day on Friday, March 31 before the clubs play the final two games of the series on Saturday, April 1 and Sunday, April 2. It will mark the second time in club history that the Giants open at an Interleague ballpark (also 2021 in Seattle).
Following the season-opening series against the Yankees, the Giants will travel to Chicago for a three-game set against the White Sox from April 3-6 with an off day following game one, before returning to San Francisco for their Home Opener on Friday, April 7 versus the Kansas City Royals. The Giants will also host the Dodgers for three games during the first homestand of the year from April 10-12.
The 2023 schedule will be the first to feature the new balanced schedule format that was added to the new collective bargaining agreement in March. The Giants will play six less games against their divisional opponents, which will now give them a total of 13 games against each of the other four teams in their division, two series on the road and two at home. They will continue to face the other 10 National League teams two times apiece, playing one series at home and one on the road. The Giants will now play 46 Interleague games, facing every team in the American League for a three-game series, alternating between ballparks annually. This year, the Giants will host the following American League opponents: Baltimore, Boston, Cleveland, Kansas City, Oakland, Seattle, Tampa Bay and Texas. The Giants will also visit the A’s for two regular season games with the territorial rivalry home-and-home series still intact.
San Francisco’s schedule features two three-city road trips against Pittsburgh (July 14-16), Cincinnati (July 17-20) and Washington (July 21-23), as well as Colorado (September 14-17), Arizona (September 19-20) and Los Angeles-NL (September 21-24). The Giants’ longest homestand of the year is a nine-game stint from July 25-August 3 versus Oakland (July 25-26), Boston (July 28-30) and Arizona (July 31-August 3).
The Giants are home for Easter (Sunday, April 9 vs. Kansas City), Memorial Day (Monday, May 29 vs. Pittsburgh) and Fourth of July (Tuesday, July 4 vs. Seattle). They play on the road on Mother’s Day (Sunday, May 14 at Arizona), Father’s Day (Sunday, June 18 at Los Angeles-NL) and Labor Day (Monday, September 4 at Chicago-NL).
