The 49ers are one day away from their final preseason game and 18 days away from Week 1.

On Wednesday, head coach Kyle Shanahan hopped on with Murph & Mac and provided some updates as training camp closes. To begin, Shanny said that while quarterback Trey Lance will play on Thursday vs. the Texans, it won’t be for that long.

“I’d like him to get a couple drives,” Shanahan said on KNBR. “I just want them to go out and get a little bit of the continuity of the offense. You know they haven’t played since the first game of the preseason. After this we have 17 days I believe till they play again. That’s such a long time that I want them to go out there and just get in there a little bit, but I’m trying to get them out there pretty fast.

“My goal is for them to stay healthy and as long as they do that I’ll be happy.”

It sounds like Lance won’t play much longer than he did in the preseason opener, when he played just two series and was pulled after a long touchdown pass.

Speaking of availability, Shanahan also provided updates on the 49ers’ two starting corners. He says that Charvarius Ward (groin) will return next week, while Emmanuel Moseley (hamstring) is healthy enough to maybe play on Thursday.

“He’ll be back next week,” Shanahan said of Ward. “He’s doing good. We’re not going to test him at all in this game. Him and [Emmanuel Moseley] have been off the last few weeks. I think Eman will get a go a little possibly in this game, we’re still trying to decide on that. He at least has been good the last two days in practice and Charvarius will be out there next week.”
