The 49ers have dominated the Rams in the regular season over the past three years, winning all six matchups. In fact, it was a Week 10 matchup last season when the 49ers were 3-5 that turned the season around, with San Francisco destroying the 7-2 Rams at Levi’s Stadium, 31-10.

In that game, SF dominated time of possession (39:03 to 20:57) and the running game (156 yards to 52 yards). Deebo Samuel also had a monster game, with 133 yards from scrimmage and a rushing and receiving touchdown.

Former 49ers offensive lineman Joe Staley said that those three elements have been the blueprint for San Francisco’s supremacy over Los Angeles in the Kyle Shanahan era.

“I think it’s just a good matchup,” Staley said on KNBR Monday morning. “Honestly, if you look at how we won those games for the last couple years it’s been ball control, limiting the mistakes, playing just that 49ers brand of that boring, kind of efficient offensive football that we talk about all the time.

“Deebo hasn’t really kind of flexed his muscles yet this season. A big part of this game I think is going to be getting him out in space, quick passes with the run game again. It’s just one of those situations where the team just matches up really well.”

Staley sees this game being a carbon copy of last year’s matchup at Levi’s.

“I was telling people this weekend, everybody’s kind of down on the Niners how they’re starting, especially offensively, and I think this is going to be a game that reminds everybody that this is a pretty good team still. They still have a ton of talent. I wouldn’t be surprised to go watch the game tonight and see the 49ers come away with a 38-10 victory.”
