It’s safe to say Nick Bosa got the best of Baker Mayfield the last time they squared off.

In a now famous matchup on Monday night in 2019, Bosa got his revenge for Mayfield’s flag plant while the two were in college. The 49ers destroyed the Browns 31-3, Bosa had two sacks, the 49ers sacked him four times and picked him off two more. Mayfield completed just eight passes.

Bosa capped the night off by doing this:

So can we expect some more trash talking before the two meet again this Sunday? Don’t count on it.

“I don’t think I called him out last time before the game I just called him out after,” Bosa told Murph & Mac on KNBR Wednesday morning. “So yeah, maybe I’ll just call him out after when it goes the way we want it to.

“Yeah we’re going to play Niner football,” Bosa said before breaking out in laughter. “That’s all I got, I got no trash talk this morning, it’s too early for that.”

Maybe Bosa’s decision not to talk smack has to do with him being more mature. Bosa explained that he’s grown a lot since his rookie year.

“I was 21 [my rookie season]. Now I’m 24,” Bosa said. “So that’s definitely a big growth period in anybody’s life, especially when you’re living this type of life and around a lot of really good leaders and people. It kind of forces you to grow up a little bit. I wouldn’t say I’m a huge vocal leader on the team because we have a lot of guys who have been in the league for 10-plus years and have seen a lot more than I have.

“But I do have a lot of pretty valuable experiences so far, and there are some young guys in the D-line room that I like to share that with.”
