Frank Gore Jr. is following in his father’s footsteps and then some.

The standout running back for Southern Miss University had an all-time performance in his school’s 38-24 victory over Rice in the LendingTree Bowl on Saturday, setting an NCAA bowl game record with 329 yards rushing. Gore added two rushing touchdowns and even threw for a TD pass to tie the game in the third quarter. Amazingly, it was the running back’s eighth career TD pass.

Gore had TD runs of 64 and 56 yards.

The performance was so spectacular, the younger Gore couldn’t help but talk a little smack to his pops.

“I told him [about the record] when he came on the field and let him know that I’m the best in the family,” Gore told ESPN.

The 329 yards were also the most on Southern Miss history, and give Gore Jr. 2,891 rushing yards since his first college season in 2020. His ability has led to speculation that he’ll head to a bigger school for his junior year, but Gore Jr. says he’s not going anywhere.
