We’re now a week removed from the Carlos Correa debacle in San Francisco, and the star shortstop still doesn’t have a team.

According to the latest report from Jon Heyman, Correa and his camp are not believed to be willing to renegotiate the 12-year, $315 million deal that he’s reportedly agreed to with the Mets, after New York has expressed similar concern to the Giants about an ankle / leg injury, following his physical.

Heyman says that there is a 55 percent chance the two sides can still work out a deal — presumably without a restructure — for Correa to stay in New York. In the meantime, three teams have reached out to Correa, though the shortstop remains committed to trying to get a deal done in NY. It is unclear if the Giants are in that group.

Via Heyman:

There is optimism a deal can still be completed between Correa and the Mets, with one source on Monday placing the likelihood at 55 percent that the two sides find common ground. Among the possibilities is added contract language that would protect the Mets from financial responsibility if Correa’s pre-existing condition sidelined him for an extended stretch. Correa’s agent, Scott Boras, worked out a similar contract clause with J.D. Martinez following a five-year agreement with the Red Sox for $110 million.

But the belief is Correa — whose strong preference is to play for the Mets — isn’t open to restructuring the length or financial terms of the contract. At least three teams have been in contact with Correa’s camp in recent days, but Correa remains committed for now to trying to finalize his deal with the Mets.

The deal falling through and Correa ending up back on the Giants on a shorter deal would be the most chaotic conclusion, but they way these negotiations have gone it wouldn’t be a shock at this point.

The Giants organization has still yet to comment publicly on the situation aside from a short statement last week.
