No one has every missed four extra points in a single game in the modern era. That is, until Monday night.

Cowboys placekicker Brett Maher somehow missed four PATs in the divisional-round win over the Buccaneers, with the last miss hitting the upright. It was a baffling performance by a kicker who has been solid this season, making 50-of-53 PATs and 29-of-32 of his field goals.

It’s because of that track record that Dallas won’t look at making a replacement according to owner Jerry Jones.

“No. No. We won’t [look at kickers this week],” Jones said. “He’s done enough good ones. I don’t think he’s blown the socket or whatever you do.”

Maher also missed his only PAT attempt in Week 18, meaning he’s blown five of his last six. That indicates he might have the yips.

“Definitely didn’t do my part tonight,” Maher said on Monday. “This team is too good moving forward for me to have to do that. Just get back at it this week.”

Every point could prove to be the difference on Sunday vs. the 49ers, with the line set at San Francisco favored by just over a field goal.
