Dillon Brooks ejected from Cavs game after instigating brawl

Dillon Brooks, who became one of Golden State’s main rivals during last year’s Western Conference Semifinals with his brashness and physical play, got in another scuffle Thursday night against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

After getting fouled inside, Brooks appeared to wack Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell in the groin area. Mitchell took exception to that possibly inadvertent contact and threw the ball at Brooks, igniting a shoving match that ended with Brooks in the front row of cameramen on the baseline.

Both Brooks and Mitchell were ejected from the game.

Brooks’ antics in the Warriors’ series win over the Grizzlies last summer made him a villain for Warriors fans. His hard foul on Gary Payton II earned him an ejection and knocked Payton out with a fractured elbow.

Brooks also publicly threw shade at Andre Iguodala, who requested a trade out of Memphis, last year. The quote — “We all had the vision. He didn’t, which is perfect. Send him back to the Warriors and let him do his thing over there” — didn’t sit well with the Warriors. Just recently, Klay Thompson referenced it when asked about the Warriors’ budding rivalry with Memphis.

One of the fiercest competitors and consistent trash-talkers, Brooks has developed quite a reputation. Like Draymond Green, he falls into the category of players you’d love to have on your team, but hate to play against.
