Giants receive positive news after scary Alex Cobb moment

By

It appears the Giants avoided a major scare.

Starting pitcher Alex Cobb went down in a heap after taking a hard hit ball off his left knee, with the pain so great that Cobb later said he thought his season might be over.

Luckily it will not be. Cobb sustained a left knee contusion but tests came back negative. The injury did knock Cobb out of the game in the fourth inning on Saturday, but it’s possible he won’t miss another start.

Things went south after Cobb left. Sammy Long promptly gave up four runs in the next 2/3 of an inning, putting the Giants’ in a 5-1 hole they wouldn’t be able to get out of. San Francisco lost to the Dodgers 13-8, despite outhitting LA 15-12. The Giants are now 4-11 in the Cactus League.
