Draymond Green, Kevon Looney ask referee why Stephen Curry doesn’t get foul calls

Stephen Curry’s teammates don’t feel he’s being officiated fairly. During the team’s 136-125 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday night, Kevon Looney and Draymond Green pleaded with officials to get him calls.

In the video above, you can see Looney gesture to the official that Curry was hit on the arm on a previous play, but nothing was called. He appears to say:

“He got fouled. The same call you just gave to Dort. He came in, had his hand like this, [unintelligible] a foul. Same play down there for Steph.”

Green, meanwhile, has a more streamlined approach to this chat with the official.

“He’s got two MVPs and four championships,” Green said, repeating it about a half dozen times.

As far as getting foul calls, Curry is surprisingly low.

He is 38th in the NBA in free throw attempts per game, averaging just 5.0 a game. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who was set to take those shots after a foul, is third in the league with 10.9 per game.

Having 37 players in the league average more trips to the line than Curry per game just feels off.

It’s one of those subjects that’s been visible for a while now. Curry has shown some frustration down the stretch this season at a perceived lack of foul calls that he, and his teammates, feel he deserves to get. Despite that, Curry is averaging 29.6 points per game this season, seventh among all players.
