LOS ANGELES-Shortly into his start against the Giants on Saturday night, Hyun-Jin Ryu left the game when a comeback line drive off the bat of Joe Panik struck his pitching arm. Immediately after throwing to first to retire Panik, he grabbed his left arm and was replaced by Ross Stripling. It was later revealed Ryu suffered left forearm contusion and his x-rays came back negative.

Although he gave up an early 1-0 lead in the first inning, Ryu appeared to be settled in against the Giants. His night came to an end after 2.1 innings pitched, in which he allowed one run, three hits and struck out Ryder Jones.

Before leaving the game, Ryu was vying a spot in the Dodgers’ postseason rotation with his recent success. The Dodgers won eight of his last 12 starts, during which time Ryu posted a 3-1 record, 2.62 ERA and 63 strikeouts. Now, it is uncertain how the remainder of his season will unfold or the severity of his injury.
