The 49ers are reportedly set to lose a member of their coaching staff this offseason, as former San Francisco head coach Chip Kelly has recruited an old friend to join him down at UCLA.
According to Bruce Feldman, assistant defensive line coach Vince Oghobaase will become the Bruins’ new defensive line coach after leaving his post as the 49ers’ assistant defensive line coach. Oghobaase spent two seasons in San Francisco, initially joining the staff in 2016 when Kelly was hired to succeed Jim Tomsula.

At the 49ers’ end-of-season press conference on Tuesday, head coach Kyle Shanahan indicated that he expected to retain his coaching staff moving into the 2018 season, but Oghobaase’s departure means that Shanahan will have at least one void to fill.
Oghobaase worked under 49ers’ defensive line coach Jeff Zgonina and defensive coordinator Robert Saleh and came to San Francisco after spending three seasons as a defensive graduate assistant at Ohio State University.
