It’s official, Joey Bart is a member of the San Francisco Giants, and it’s hard to tell who’s more excited: him or his family
Bart was watching the MLB draft at home surrounded by family when the pick was announced. The catcher from Georgia Tech was drafted second overall in the first round. This is the highest pick the Giants have had in 33 years, drafting legend Will Clark the last time they selected at No. 2. The high draft pick came off the back of a 98-loss season in 2017.
Bochy had high praise for the player before the game, saying he was poised to be on the fast track to the majors.

“He looks like he’s pretty advanced,” Bochy said. “I don’t know where he’s going to start for us but you look at the size of this kid, success that he’s had, plus the intangibles like he’s been calling his own games. You would think someone like this is would be on fast pace.”
