The Giants have made it clear that they are not going to be big sellers at the trade deadline. That said, the development that Johnny Cueto is likely headed back to the disabled list with elbow issues has led San Francisco to tweak their philosophy a bit, according to Jon Morosi of MLB Network.

A game under .500 and 6.5 games out of first-place in the NL West, the Giants are now willing to entertain offers for a few of their veteran players, most notably Andrew McCutchen, who has already received interest from the Cleveland Indians, per Morosi.

“I was told by a source this morning that because of the uncertainty surrounding (Johnny Cueto), the Giants are willing now to entertain some offers for at least some of their veteran players, namely Andrew McCutchen,” Morosi said on MLB Network. “I was told actually this morning there is now some activity on McCutchen.

“The Cleveland Indians, they have been linked to him actually at different times in recent years, and maybe if Adam Jones isn’t going anywhere, McCutchen could be a good fit for the Indians to play maybe some center or some right.”

The Giants acquired McCutchen in a trade this offseason, sending pitchers Kyle Crick, Bryan Reynolds, and international bonus slot money to the Pirates. McCutchen is set to become a free agent at the end of this season.

In his first season with the Giants, McCutchen has been just okay, posting a career low .753 OPS in 103 games.
