If the marketing firm responsible for the billboard outside of Madison Square Garden thinks it’s going to sway Kevin Durant to come to New York, they are sorely mistaken.
The billoard features Durant in a road Knicks jersey next to Kristaps Porzingis with the question, “Can you make NY sports great again?” posted to Durant’s Instagram handle, @easymoneysniper. Durant is holding the Larry O’Brien trophy, something the Knicks haven’t hoisted since 1973.
Durant was asked about the billboard at shootaround in New York on Thursday, and didn’t seem all that impressed.
“I don’t really know how to feel about that type of stuff,” Durant said via Anthony Slater. “It’s cool. No disrespect, but I’m not really impressed with that type of stuff.”

Durant is set to become a free agent next season, and some have predicted that he’s looking to move on from the Warriors. Marcus Thompson said on KNBR a few weeks ago that he believes Durant is in his last season in Golden State. The Knicks are considered a top destination if KD leaves, as they are projected to have enough cap space to offer him a max deal.
The Warriors face the Knicks for the first time this season at 4:30 PM on Friday.
